I started off the year strong and kept up doing reading updates regularly and I refuse to make excuses about why I dropped that habit (and the habit of writing for a while) so instead, I’ll say that I’ll do better from now on.
I still have a lot of reviews to write, ARCs to catch up with, and about a 800 book long tbr to get through (and there are so many books that I haven’t even marked as tbr but that’s a whole other story).
This summer went by in seconds. I know I’ve said this a million times in older posts but it truly felt like the summer lasted about 0.03 seconds.
This year I did a lot of work and my health wasn’t the greatest so I didn’t manage to get any travelling done but I squeezed in a few days with friends and a few weekends to my grandparents’ house so it’s not all bad.
In all honesty, I feel like I haven’t done much reading but here goes:
Between June and the end of August, I managed to get nine books done and finally hit (and passed) my reading goal:
- Breaking Dawn – Stephenie Meyer
- The Altar of the Dead – Henry James
- Atonement – Ian McEwan
- Aurora Burning – Amie Kaufmann & Jay Kristoff
- A Curse so Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer
- A Heart so Fierce and Broken – Brigid Kemmerer
- Spin the Dawn – Elizabeth Lim
- Unravel the Dusk – Elizabeth Lim
- Girl, Serpent, Thorn – Melissa Bashardoust
Out of all of the books, the ones I didn’t enjoy too much were The Altar of the Dead and A Curse So Dark and Lonely. ACSDAL took me several months to get through, but I loved book 2 of the series. I am slowly catching up with reviews and will keep updating this post as the reviews go up.
What did you read this summer and what would you recommend?
