City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare | The Mortal Instruments

I absolutely adore City of Fallen Angels and it really confuses me when people hate on it but we all have different tastes, don’t we?

The review might contain mild spoilers.

The Synopsis:

Clary is back at home in New York after the end of the Mortal War and she is excited for all that lies ahead. She has started her training to become a Shadowhunter, her mother is about to get married to the love of her life and there is peace between the Nephilim and the Downworld.

But there is a murderer on the loose and that draws the attention of all supernatural creatures and invokes tension that could break the fragile peace. When Jace starts to distance himself, Clary is forced to find out the reason why and the truth is not something she is ready for – her worst nightmare has become true.

My Thoughts:

What I liked about the book: I absolutely love how action packed City of Fallen Angels is – from what happens with Clary and Jace, to Simon’s life to everything else in the crazy life that they are living. I love the new plot twists, the details, the new villain and for me, City of Fallen Angels is definitely a great beginning to the second part of the series. I always love reading about Clary and Jace and that love did not diminish in the later books which I have yet to talk to about (but will soon, hopefully) and I find that City of Fallen Angels will definitely keep the reader on their toes.

What I didn’t like about the book: The plot twist with Jace and Lilith was a bit of a long shot for me personally but it works well long term so I guess it was worth it.

A quote: “The more you try to crush your true nature, the more it will control you. Be what you are. No one who really loves you will stop.”

My Rating: 5/5 stars

Did you watch the show and if you did, did you enjoy how they played out and portrayed the events of this book (and the shadowhunter universe overall?)
